The SHS Scholarship Award is a concept designed to provide opportunities to support students in attending and continuing education beyond high school.

 

Requirements and Process:

  • ​Must complete all required sections of the student application and essay.

  • Must submit three letters of recommendations: teacher, parent, and non-friend.

  • Must be a graduating senior from Hancock County.

  • Must submit a copy of school transcript.

  • Must submit a copy of letter of acceptance from college.

  • Essay: Must write a short essay consisting of 300 words on the following:

  1. "WHAT EDUCATION MEANS TO ME"

  2. "EDUCATIONAL AND CAREER GOALS"

  3. "SIGNIFICANT OBSTACLES YOU HAVE FACED IN YOUR LIFE AND HAVE OVERCOME"

  4. "WHY YOU DESERVE THIS SCHOLARSHIP?"

  5. "EXPLAIN HOW THIS SCHOLARSHIP WILL BENEFIT YOU, FAMILY, AND COMMUNITY"

Upon being nominated as a SHS Award recipient, student must complete 1st semester and have entered 2nd semester at selected college for scholarship funds to be awarded. Scholarship funds must be used for school-related purposes/activities. There will be no exceptions.
